A blogger and bookbinder named Whitney Sorrow has started posting Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula in “real time” — i.e., since it is an epistolary novel, Sorrow is publishing each letter on the date it was ostensibly written. At first it sounded like a gimmick, but it’s actually a really interesting idea: give the reader a chance to experience a novel’s events at the same pace as its characters. It might even work as a way to blow the dust off overly familiar stories. I’ll be more apt to keep regular tabs come August, when Sorrow will begin posting Les Liaisons Dangereuses one poisonous letter at a time.
