‘Love and hate was in the air, like pollen from a flower’

This is the song that most says “summer” to me.

This cover version from Anthrax sounds pretty good. I’d guess they modeled it on the performance in The Living End, the Huskers’ valedictory concert album.

This version from Mark Kozelek stands alongside the Cowboy Junkies’ “Sweet Jane” on the shelf of great counterintuitive covers.

At least he realized there was no upside in trying to outblast the Huskers.
