Thrill-a-Minute Skyway Cam!

I shot this footage of a car trip along the length of the Pulaski Skyway in June 2007 during the late-afternoon drive home from Hoboken, steering with my right hand while my left held the camera in place on the roof of the car. There was remarkably little traffic at the time, so the demolition-derby aspect of the Skyway isn’t represented. The aesthetic experience, however, is pretty well captured. If you don’t like the sound of wind rushing past the microphone, you might want to play the Alabama 3 theme song from The Sopranos. Personally, I think the rushing noise captures the Eraserhead-era David Lynch feeling I always get when driving through that section of Hudson County.
